Analysis of Domestic and International Research Trends in Adolescent Art Therapy

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine and compare the research trends of adolescent art therapy published in Korea and abroad over the last 10 years. 172 papers published in indexed journals from 2010 to 2019 were analyzed by year & type of research, objects of study, study method, study content. The results are as follows: First, the frequency of domestic research was the highest in 2015 while overseas was maintained at the similar rate. Also, the art therapy process/results contents examined the most in both at home and abroad. Second, research subjects composed as groups of 10 to 29 in both domestic and overseas the most. Also, domestic had subjects with problem behavior while overseas had subjects with trauma experience the most. Third, domestic frequently used mixed-methods studies while overseas used empirical studies in analysis of research methods. Also, most treatment in domestic conducted once a week for 60 minute within 10 to 19 sessions, while treatment in aboard conducted once a week for 90 minute within 1 to 9 sessions. Both domestic and abroad used objective tests as a measurement tools and most of them were used with topics related to psychological emotion. In addition, data content analysis and independent sample t tests were frequently used as data analysis methods in domestic and abroad. Fourth, domestic studied self-related variables the most while overseas studied psychological emotions variables the most. Based on the results, this paper discussed and suggested to proposed the future direction of adolescent art therapy.
